Reasons to Quit Smoking
No doubt you already know the reasons why you should give up smoking. We are surrounded by information on the terrible things that smoking does to us and those around us. There is no question that smoking kills. Smoking accelerates our chances of a painful death, gasping for air. It is a terrible thought./
If you are a long term smoker, then you may already be experiencing the unpleasant side effects of smoking. If you get puffed out walking up stairs, if you cough continuously, if you do not enjoy social events without a cigarette, then you will know what I am talking about.
Whatever outside pressures there are, you will have your own reasons for wanting to quit. You may be under pressure from your family, or you may be trying to save money. Whatever your reasons, they are extremely valid, and will help you in your determination to quit.
It is important that you focus on your reasons for quitting , as it will help you to change how you see yourself.
If health issues are amongst your reasons to quit, then try not to think about how bad you feel now, but how much better you will feel when you stop smoking. If the cost of smoking is influencing you, then make sure that you have the cash you save earmarked for something special. When I quit, I was saving up for a holiday, so I bought some Euros every week with the money I would have spent on cigarettes, it gave me a real sense of achievement.
Your friends and family may be giving you plenty of reasons to quit, but you are the one who is actually going through the process. Ultimately, you are doing this for your own reasons, keep that in mind and it will help you through this life changing transition.
